Just a quick post. I watched Gravity for the second time last weekend and if anything I was more blown away by it than I was on my first viewing.
Oh my, it’s not often I get emotional from films but sometimes they just hit me the right way.
The soundtrack by Steven Price was awarded an Academy Award and it just fitted perfectly with the suspense throughout the film.
If you haven’t already seen it, go watch it!
Or do the next best thing and listen to this:
Definitely my favourite track from the score. Admittedly I thought the scene where this plays was a bit overly dramatic but that doesn’t take anything away from the music!
As soon as I watched a trailer for The Last of Us I immediately thought how familiar the music sounded – as well as how cool the game looked of course! Well it turns out the composer also wrote the music for Babel, a film I watched at school a few years ago and came away thinking what a lovely soundtrack it had! He also won the Academy Award for Original Music Score for Babel as well as for Brokeback Mountain a year earlier.
Here are the two:
One of my all-time favourite game series
The music featured here is directly related to the games in my Video Game Origins and Great Games I Miss posts, so please check these out first!
These are my favourite soundtracks from each of these old games I used to play, enjoy! I find them all highly nostalgic and it gives me a weird mix of happiness, longing and sadness at the memories I have of these games I grew up with.
